Preview
Zack Greinke did Zack Greinke like things on Monday against the Astros. Houston hopes to move on from the 2-0 loss on Monday with Brad Peacock on the mound.
Peacock is 7-1 with a 3.46 ERA in 13 starts this season with the Astros. 13 of his last 14 outings have come as a starter. He has been on both sides of the spectrum as a starting pitcher in August. He opened the month with a 7-run outing against the Blue Jays but followed that up with one-run allowed over 6 1⁄3 innings against the White Sox.
Peacock has one career start against the Diamondbacks, allowing one run on three hits over six innings in 2014. J.D. Martinez (.400) and Adam Rosales (.200) lead the Diamondbacks with five career at-bats against Peacock. Paul Goldschmidt is 1-for-2 with a home run against Peacock.
Corpus Christi-native and San Jacinto College product Anthony Banda makes his fourth career major league start for the Diamondbacks. He is 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA over 10 innings during the month of August.
With this little major league experience, obviously, this is the first time any Astros hitter has faced Banda.
Banda works with a fastball, changeup, and curveball mix. The fastball averages around 94-95 MPH
