The MLB All-Star Game no longer decides home field for the World Series and the Home Run Derby messes up swings. So what is the most important event on the all-star weekend? It’s the Futures Game.
The game pits the best prospects from the United States and the World for nine innings. The rosters are selected by the MLB Scouting Bureau, MLBPipeline.com, and Baseball America. The game is an early look at the future of baseball, 32 of the 50 players last season reached the majors.
The two differences between a regular game and the Futures Game is there is be no more than 10 innings and each pitcher is limited to a maximum of three outs.
The Houston Astros will be well presented in the 2017 Futures Game with two players on the Team USA roster and one on the World Roster. Outfielders Derek Fisher and Kyler Tucker on team USA and Cuban infielder/DH Yordan Alvarez will be on Team World.
