The story of the Houston Astros could not be told without Jeff Bagwell. Bagwell's massive home runs and tenacious will to win set the bar for the Astros for 15 years.
Bagwell took his rightful place on Sunday among baseball's greatest player in the Baseball Hall of Fame with a 23-minute speech.
Bagwell thanked everyone from the big to the small in the Astros organization, owner Drayton McLane to athletic trainers Dave Labossiere and Rex Jones working on his arthritic shoulder. The Astros star remember those who weren't with him on Sunday: Andujar Cedeno, Ken Caminiti, Jose Lima, and Darryl Kile.
He took special time to thank his long-time teammate and fellow Hall of Famer Craig Biggio.
"It was Bagwell and Biggio, Biggio and Bagwell, however, you want to say it, but now we'll always be here in the Hall of Fame together."
Bagwell took the time to thank the Astros fans on his special day:
"Lastly, I want to thank the Astros fans. You guys have been absolutely wonderful. I can't tell you how much being around you guys in the city and showing me the love and my family. This is where my kids were born; this is where my kids were raised. I love you so much for everything that you've done for me."
