The return of Carlos Beltran has been a fun ride. But one thing has been clear, the team doesn’t plan to use Beltran in the field with any regularity. Beltran has been in the lineup for 66 games at DH and nine games in the outfield.

The Astros players confirmed that fact on Monday before the game against the Mariners.

George Springer and Alex Bregman brought out a few tombstones. There was a white box. Brian McCann put on a robe. The team even had black workout shirts made. The team gathered for a funeral.

Pay your respects.

The team bowed their heads and spoke a few words over Beltran’s glove before they laid it to rest.

The best part about all of this is the fact that McCann was the head of this event. After the long held storyline that McCann is the fun police after his dustup with Carlos Gomez. Club Astros works on everyone.

Clearly, the bat still plays.
