The Houston Astros were well represented at the 2017 Futures Game at Marlins Park on Sunday. Derek Fisher, Kyle Tucker, and Yordan Alvarez each made their impact on the game with their bats.
Fisher had the biggest swing for Team USA, flipped a pitch the other way for a two-run double. The two-bagger put Team USA up 7-0, which also proved to be the winning run in a 7-6 game with Team World.
Tampa Bay Ray prospect Brent Honeywell was given MVP honours after working two scoreless innings and striking out four. Fisher could have easily taken home the award if the officials had gone a more offensive route.
Fisher was 1-for-2 with a run scored, two RBI, a walk, and a stolen base.
Tucker had an equally impressive day. He was 1-for-3 with a RBI and an outfield assist. Tucker caught Josh Naylor attempting to take second in the fifth inning in the fifth inning.
Alvarez was a replacement for Team World in the bottom of the fifth inning. Alvarez was 1-for-1 with a run scored, a RBI, and a walk.
