For a moment, Reymin Guduan appeared to be the left-handed pitcher out of the bullpen the Astros had been looking for. Instead, he stumbled in his second outing and was pulled after giving up singles to Salvador Perez and Mike Moustakas — eventually, the Royals would tie the game with these runners.

LHP Reymin Guduan was optioned to Triple A after last night’s game.
The Astros had seen enough and have called up RHP Dayan Diaz to take over Guduan’s place in the bullpen before Wednesday’ game.
Diaz, 28, was 4-0 with a 1.93 ERA in 17 appearances with Triple-A Fresno this season. He has struck out 23 and walked seven over 23 1⁄3 innings. Diaz pitched for team Columbia during the 2017 World Baseball Classic.
Diaz was first called up on May 14 and appeared in one game against the Yankees. He allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits over 2⁄3 of an inning. He did strike out and walked none while not allowing a home run.
