Houston Astros (42-16) vs. Kansas City Royals (24-32), June 6, 2017, 7:15 p.m. CT
RHP David Paulino (0-0, 4.50 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) vs. RHP Jake Junis (1-0, 2.70 ERA, 1.95 WHIP)
The Houston Astros are the hottest team in baseball and they attempt to make history on Tuesday night. With one more win, the Astros can make their franchise record for wins in a row at 12.
The two previous times the Astros won 12 games in a row are in 2004 (Aug. 27-Sept. 8, 2004) and 1999 (Sept. 3-14, 1999) — important years for the Astros and probably a good sign for the current squad.
The streak will be tested with an another spot start for David Paulino. Joe Musgrove wasn’t able to go this week and he will remain on the disabled list for the time being.
Paulino makes his second start after starting the season on the disabled list with a bone bruise. Paulino allowed two earned runs over four innings on five hits against the Twins on May 31. He struck out eight and walked one.
Paulino will make his first career start against the Royals.
Jake Junis, a 29th round pick in 2011 MLB Draft out Rock Falls High School (IL) has had a great start to his major league career in his rookie season. He has appeared in three games with the Royals, allowed two earned runs over 6 2⁄3 innings.
He allowed two earned runs over 4 2⁄3 innings on May 21 against the Twins, striking out four and walking three.
