Astros’ affiliates swept in abbreviated slate of games.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (26-32) lost 7-3 Grizzlies Boxscore

The Grizzlies tied this game 3-3 in the fifth, but Sacramento added four runs off the bullpen to earn the victory. Tony Kemp went 2-4 out of the lead off spot with a run scored and a stolen base. Derek Fisher went 1-3 with a walk, stolen base and run scored.

Fresno starter Trent Thornton went five innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits and three walks, striking out four.

A+: Buies Creek Astros (32-25) lost 8-5 Boxscore

The Buies Creek Astros fought back from a 5-1 deficit to send this contest to extra innings. Unfortunately they couldn’t finish the comeback as Myrtle Beach scored three runs in the top of the tenth to triumph 8-5. Buies Creek starter Franklin Perez allowed three runs on four hits over four innings, striking out three.

Myles Straw reached base five times out of the lead off spot, going 4-5 with a walk, two stolen bases, two runs scored, a triple and an RBI. Newly promoted outfielder Stephen Wrenn went 3-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBI. Dexture McCall stroked a home run for the Astros.

A+: Buies Creek Astros (32-26) lost 1-0 Boxscore

Tough double header for Buies Creek as they couldn’t muster any offense in the second game of the night. The Astros lineup managed only two hits and two walks in the contest.

Brett Adcock was the hard luck losing pitcher for Buies Creek, going six innings and allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out five. Carlos Sierra pitched three perfect innings in relief striking out three.
