Preview

Brad Peacock was scheduled to start on Sunday against the Seattle Mariners because he welcomed his son, Colton Joseph Peacock, on Saturday.

Peacock was placed on the paternity list on June 24 and returned to June 27.

Peacock makes his seventh start for the Astros, he was 2-1 with a 3.81 ERA in his six previous starts. He has averaged 13.98 strikeouts per nine innings as a starter.

Daniel Gossett makes his fourth career start for the Oakland Athletics.

Gossett picked up his first major league on Saturday against the Chicago White Sox, allowing two unearned runs over six innings — striking out five and walking one.

He allowed two earned runs on six hits over 6 2/3 innings against the Astros on June 19.

Gossett replaces Jharel Cotton the originally scheduled starter because Cotton is dealing with a blister issue.
