Pitching Matchup

RHP Francis Martes (2-0, 5.02 ERA, 1.40 WHIP) vs. LHP Ariel Miranda (6-3, 4.04 ERA, 1.22 WHIP)

The Astros have a small change to their starting rotation with the arrival of Brad Peacock’s child on Saturday. Peacock was scheduled to start on Sunday but he was put on the paternity list.

Rookie Francis Martes will make his third start on Sunday in Peacock’s place. Martes is 2-0 with a 3.38 ERA in his two previous starts. He allowed four earned runs over 10 2/3 innings.

Ariel Miranda was added to the Mariners starting rotation in 2016 after a trade with the Orioles for Wade Miley.

Miranda has been great at home the Mariners, he is 7-1 with a 2.62 ERA in 14 games (13 starts). That one loss was to Houston on April 6. He is 1-1 with a 4.08 ERA in three starts against the Astros.

Miranda is 1-1 with a 3.76 ERA in four starts during the month of June. He comes into his start on Sunday after allowing two runs on four hits over seven innings against the Tigers on June 20.
