The Houston Astros added their second Texas college arm in the 2017 MLB Draft in the seventh round. Houston selected Texas Tech LHP pitcher Parker Mushinski with the pick No. 211.

Mushinski, a junior out of Argyle, Texas, was 3-2 with a 2.15 ERA in 31 appearances out of the bullpen for the Red Raiders. He struck out 25 and walked nine in 37 2⁄3 innings. He pitched two more innings in seven appearances during his junior season. Mushinski struck out three against Sam Houston State in the Lubbock Regional in one outing.
As a sophomore, Mushinski helped the Red Raiders College World Series for the second time in three years. He had 1.93 ERA while striking out 15 batters in 14 innings pitched.
Mushinski helped the Red Raiders finish first in Big 12 with a 16-8 record.
