Perry, 17, is from Spencer, Virginia and was committed to play baseball at High Point University. Perry was the No. 9 prospect in the state of Virgina by Baseball America and their 314th prospect overall. Minor League Baseball had Perry as their No. 393 prospect.
Cara Cooper of the Martinsville Bulletin reported on Perry’s junior stats when signed with High Point:
Perry was named Conference 24 Player of the Year and second team All-Region 4A West a year ago after hitting .400 with 26 hits and 23 RBIs as a junior.
Nathan Rode, a National Supervisor for Prep Baseball Report, noted that Perry brings a big stick from the left side of the plate.
