The Houston Astros gone to the junior college ranks to find their fifth pick in the 2017 MLB Draft at No. 91. Houston selects Grayson Community College RHP Tyler Ivey.

Ivey, a sophomore at Grayson, he was 9-0 with a 2.08 ERA in 12 games with the Vikings. He struck out 122 and 28 walks in 78 innings. He was first in NJCAA Region 5 in strikeouts and strikeouts per game. He 5-0 with a 1.82 ERA in eight conference games. He had committed to play baseball at Oklahoma State after Grayson College.
Ivey was the 12-5A Pitcher of the Year in 2013-15 for Rockwall-Heath High School. He was selected to Perfet Game All-American First team in 2015.
Ivey transferred from Texas A&M University after his freshman season. He appeared in 11 games for the Aggies, posting a 2-3 record with a 3.56 ERA.

Minor League Baseball ranked Ivey as the No. 313 prospect in the draft. Baseball American had him as their No. 125 right-hand pitcher in the draft.
