Astros’ affiliates swept in abbreviated slate of games.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (30-33) lost 7-3 Boxscore

The Hooks scored in the top of the eighth to take a 3-2 lead but allowed five in the bottom of the inning, falling 7-3 to the San Antonio Missions.

Jason Martin and J.D. Davis each had three hit nights for the Hooks. Martin had a double and two runs scored, Davis had a double and two RBI. Drew Ferguson added a hit, stolen base and run scored out of the lead off spot.

Hooks starter Rogelio Armenteros had a solid night, going five and two thirds innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out six.

A+: Buies Creek Astros (34-30) lost 12-4 Boxscore

The Buies Creek Astros were doomed by an eight run inning and fell to the Potomac Nationals 12-4.

Outfielder Myles Straw continues to hit for a high average, going 2-4 with a run scored on the night. The two hits raised his season average to .319, and he’s getting on base at a .425 clip. First baseman Dexture McCall added a solo homer for Buies Creek.

The most effective Buies Creek pitcher was Ryan Hartman, who threw three scoreless innings out of the bullpen with two strikeouts.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (33-29) lost 1-0 Boxscore

The River Bandits lost a tough game in a pitcher’s duel as the two teams combined for only six hits.

Second baseman Marcos Almonte and right fielder Carmen Benedetti had the only hits on the night for the River Bandits.

Quad Cities starter Ronel Blanco took a tough loss while pitching well, going four and two thirds allowing one run and striking out five. Yohan Ramirez pitched three and a third scoreless innings in relief.
