One of the major keys for the Astros meteoric rise to the top of the standings has been Dallas Keuchel. Keuchel returned to his Cy Young form with a 9-0 record with a 1.67 ERA in 11 starts in 2017.
But Keuchel has been dealing with a pinched nerve in his neck and a virus that had him feeling ill after his last start. Keuchel was a late scratch when the nerve issue flared up in his last scheduled start against the Royals in Kansas City.
Keuchel talked to the media for the first time since going on the disabled list. He talked about the issues he was going through and the fact that he’ll likely take it easy for a week. He’ll be held to cardio work and no throwing for a week.
The outcome will likely be the Astros without Keuchel for at least two or three starts. Houston has every incentive to not push Keuchel before the playoffs.
