Normally a debut of a top prospect would be worth a watch. But the Angels decided to ruin the arrival of Francis Martes on Friday. The Halos also spoiled the run of quality starts for Brad Peacock by jumping all over him in a 9-4 victory on Friday night for Los Angeles.

Kole Calhoun and Cameron Maybin did the most damage for the Halos. Maybin returned from the DL, to collect three hits and steal four bases -- tying the franchise record for one game. Calhoun had two hits and collected three RBIs.

Peacock allowed four runs over three innings on 76 pitches.

Martes entered the game in the fifth inning. Martes faced 18 batters, giving four runs on four hits. He struck out two and walked two on 78 pitched (44 strikes). Martín Maldonado welcomed Martes to the league with a two-run home run in the seventh inning.

Surprising, Tony Sipp was able to pitch a clean 1 13 inning to end the game.

The Astros were able to muster four runs against the Angels, including a two-run home run by Alex Bregman in the seventh.

Matt Shoemaker allowed four runs on seven hits over seven innings.
