Pitching Matchup
RHP David Paulino (0-1, 5.14 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) vs. LHP Hector Santiago (4-4, 4.31 ERA, 1.35 WHIP)
Preview
Another starting pitcher has gone down for the red-hot Astros. David Paulino has been called up to start for Joe Musgrove.
Paulino started the 2017 season on the disabled list with a bone bruise. Paulino has appeared in three games with Triple-A Fresno, he has allowed seven runs over 14 innings. He struck out 13 and walked nine.
Paulino, 22, was acquired by the Astros as part of the 2013 trade with the Tigers for Jose Veras and a top 10 prospect on the TCB Top 30 list when called up in 2016.
He only pitched in seven innings in the majors in 2016, making one start.
Hector Santiago starts for the Twins on Wednesday. He is 2-3 with a 6.41 ERA in six games in May (five starts). He has allowed five home runs over his last three outings...not a good sign when facing the Astros.
Santiago is 1-3 with a 4.01 ERA in 11 games (nine starts) against the Astros in his career.
Jose Altuve is batting .304 (7x23) against Santiago and Josh Reddick is batting .353 (6x17). Carlos Correa is batting .333 (4x12) with three home runs.
