Preview

The Astros had a historic comeback on Monday and now they level the field for the Twins by sending out Mike Fiers. Fiers was sent to the Astros bullpen for a grand total of one day before Charlie Morton had to be put on the disabled list.

Fiers allowed an MLB-high 18 home runs through nine starts. He allowed at least one home run in each start. Fiers has been up and down in his last two starts, allowing one run over six innings on May 20 and went just 4 2/3 innings on May 25.

Fiers is 3-1 with a 3.16 ERA in seven career games (six starts) against the Twins. His most recent starts came in 2016, he allowed eight earned runs over 9 2/3 innings in two starts. Brian Dozier (17 AB, 3 XBHs) has ha and Eddie Rosario (3-for-10) had success against Fiers, while Joe Mauer (4-for-15) has struggled.

Jose Berrios has been an early bright spot for the Twins. He started the year in Triple-A, allowing only four earned runs over 21 2/3 of major league work. The 2012 first-round pick is in his second major league season with the Twins and 17th start overall.

Berrios is 1-1 with an 8.59 ERA in two previous starts against the Astros, both in 2016. George Springer is 3-for-4 with a home run and a double off Berrios. Jose Altuve is 2-for-5 with a double.
