Pitching Matchup

RHP Charlie Morton (2-2, 4.50 ERA, 1.36 WHIP) vs. RHP Nick Martinez (0-0, 2.77 ERA, 0.77 WHIP)

Preview

The Astros are now officially the comeback kids of 2017, Houston has had a comeback in 12 of their 18 wins this season — that is already more wins the Rangers have.

Charlie Morton is hoping to make it three in a row against the boys from South Oklahoma and help extend the Astros’ seven-game lead over the Rangers in the AL West.

Morton is coming off his longest start of the season in his last outing. He allowed four runs over seven innings against the Athletics. A positive for Morton who has just one quality start (April 5 vs. the Mariners).

Morton has one game career game against the Rangers, he allowed three earned run over five innings in 2008. Basically, Morton has a clean slate against the Rangers.

Nick Martinez makes his fifth career start (eighth game) against the Astros. He enters the game with a 3-1 record with a 2.33 ERA.

Matchup to watch: Josh Reddick vs. Nick Martinez

Reddick has 14 at-bats against Nick Martinez, he has seven hits in his career against the right-hander. That includes four extra-base hits, two doubles, a triple, and a home run.
