Just when you thought Marwin Gonzalez was taking a step back this season, he comes back and hits two home runs against the Rangers. And wasn’t just Gonzalez's patient solo home runs. But a grand slam home run to put the Astros up 7-6 over the rival Rangers en route to an 8-7 victory.
The table was set. A double by Carlos Beltran, a walk to Jose Altuve, and a single by Evan Gattis loaded the bases for Gonzalez.
The count went to 2-0 and Rangers pitcher Keone Kela challenged Gonzalez with a 95-mph fastball for strike one and went back to it for his fourth pitch of the at-bat. Marwin was ready and launched the ball into the right field upper deck just inside the foul pole.
Gonzalez watched the ball down the line with umpire joining to gaze on the flight of the ball.
Now let's watch it again, and enjoy the abbreviated return of Bill Brown to the booth for the call.
