Over 100,000 fans saw the Astros take on the Indians over the weekend. The Houston faithful didn’t see the Astros flex their muscles against one of the AL’s best teams. Instead, they learned that the Astros may have a Indians problem with Cleveland completing a three-game sweep with an 8-6 win on Sunday.
The Astros were able to put a late comeback but Joe Musgrove dug too deep of a hole in the first four innings of the game.
Yan Gomes and Jason Kipnis each had RBIs in the first inning and Gomes put the Indians up 5-1 with a three-run home run in the third inning.
Musgrove allowed the first two batters to reach base in the fourth inning and was pulled for Ashur Tolliver. Tolliver allowed a walk, two singles, and a hit-by-pitch that resulted in three more runs being scored.
Jose Altuve attempted to start the climb back with a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth.
Marwin Gonzalez and Alex Bregman went back-to-back with home runs in the ninth to set the score at 8-6. Gonzalez home run came after a 13-pitch at-bat.
Nori Aoki ended the game with a strikeout.
