Astros prospects homer from the lead off spot in all three games

Another night of baseball in the books with the minor league teams sweeping a three game slate.


AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (11-14) won 11-7 Grizzlies Boxscore

The Grizzlies pounded 16 hits, 11 of which went for extra bases to outslug the Reno Aces. A.J. Reed went 4 for 5 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI. Preston Tucker was a single away from the cycle going 3 for 5 with two runs scored and two RBI. Derek Fisher added a double, home run and three RBI from the lead off spot.

Fresno starter Edison Frias got hit hard (seven earned in four innings) but Reymin Guduan (three innings) and Jordan Jankowski (two innings) pitched scoreless baseball to nail down the win.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (15-9) won 6-2 Hooks Boxscore

Hooks starter Dean Deetz pitched five strong innings to propel the Hooks to victory Monday night. Deetz allowed one earned run on four hits and two walks on the evening. He’s now sporting a 0.95 ERA and 0.70 WHIP in almost 19 innings with the Hooks.

Drew Ferguson led off the game for the Hooks with his best George Springer impression, hitting a solo home run. Ferguson ended up going 2 for 4 with a run scored and three RBI out of the lead off spot. Ramon Laureano also had two hits on the night with a run scored.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (17-8) won 8-7 Astros Boxscore

The Buies Creek Astros rode strong offense and just enough pitching to an 8-7 victory. Starter Alex Winkelman tossed five solid innings, allowing only two hits and striking out five. The bullpen bent but didn’t break in the final four frames.

Jason Martin continued the night’s theme by homering from the lead off spot. He went 2 for 4 on the night with a run scored, a walk, an RBI and two stolen bases. Kyle Tucker went 2 for 5 with a run scored, a double and a stolen base.
