Pitching Matchup

RHP Charlie Morton (0-1, 4.09 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) vs. RHP Jesse Chavez (1-1, 5.40 ERA, 1.20 WHIP)

Preview

The Astros’ final game in Oakland was rained out — the first time that has happened in Oakland in three years. The extra day of rest can go one of two ways, an aid to the Astros veterans or it will be a “reason” for breaking the Astros hot streak.

Sunday’s starter Charlie Morton takes the ball on Monday. Morton is 12-14 with a 4.22 ERA in 35 career starts with six-plus days of rest between starts. Morton is 1-0 with a 4.63 ERA in two career starts against the Angels.

Chavez is 3-1 with a 2.90 ERA in 21 games (5 starts) against the Astros. He is 0-1 with a 4.64 ERA in 12 games (two starts) at Minute Maid Park. Chavez has bounced to his seven innings thus far through 2017.

Matchup to Watch: Jose Altuve vs. Jesses Chavez

Jose ALtuve has been back on track, and he'll be happy to see Jesse Chavez. He is batting .350 (7x20) with two doubles against Chavez.
