Keuchel shines, Astros pick up walk-off win in split squad games

The Houston Astros are finally rounding into form at Spring Training it appears or maybe it was the luck of the luck of the Irish with the St. Patrick Hats. But the Astros defeated the Red Sox 6-2 and Braves 5-4 in Split Squad games on Friday.

Brad Peacock and Francis Martes combined to allow just one earned run over six innings. Martes didn’t allow a hit and strike out three batters.

The Astros scored four runs in the seventh inning with doubles from Evan Gattis, Teoscar Hernandez, and J.D. Davis to put Houston up 6-1.

The Astros walked off with the win at home against the Braves and Dallas Keuchel looked like his old self in the other game.

Keuchel walked none, struck out two and allowed three hits over four innings of scoreless baseball.

The Astros entered the ninth inning down 4-1 to the Braves. Colin Moran, Drew Ferguson, and Alejandro Garcia each singled to load the bases. Derek Fisher doubled to score two runs.

Jack Mayfield completed the comeback with a single to center, scoring Garcia and Fisher sliding in under the throw from Ray-Patrick Didder.
