The Houston Astros faithful’s support could have easily split during Wednesday's World Baseball Classic action. An Astro was in the starting lineup for Team United States and Team Venezuela.
Alex Bregman started at shortstop for the stars and stripes and Jose Altuve has been a regular for Venezuela.
USA took home the key victory with home runs from Adam Jones and Eric Hosmer lifting Team USA in the eighth inning to win 4-2.
Bregman was ready to make an impact after getting just one at-bat before Wednesday. The Astros starting third baseman picked up a single against King Felix and Tigers minor leaguer Arcenio Leon.
It was a familiar formula to the end the game for Team USA, Pat Neshek and Luke Gregerson took over the final two innings. Neshek, now a Phillie, struck out Altuve to end the eighth inning.
Luke Gregerson ended the game with a double play groundout by Victor Martinez.
