The Houston Astros defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1 on Wednesday night to win the 2017 World Series by a 4-3 mark. The win gives the Astros their first championship in franchise history.

Houston enter Major League Baseball in 1962 as the Houston Colt .45s. and after three years, the baseball team moved into the Astrodome and became the Astros. After 55 years, the Astros reached the playoffs 11 times through 2017, and only made the World Series twice.

The previous year the Astros reached the World Series was 2005, Houston was swept by Chicago White Sox.

But the waiting was over for the Astros in 2017. The Astros were only the fourth team to lose 100 games and then turn around win the World Series in 5 years.

The Astros were one of eight teams that hadn’t won a World Series Championship, but Houston leave the ranks of San Diego Padres, Tampa Bay Rays, Washington Nationals, Colorado Rockies, Milwaukee Brewers, Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers
