For much of the Alex Bregman’s first year and change he was the center of many trade rumors. The Houston Astros were always rumored to be looking for starting pitching and the main piece was always Bregman.
At the time it made sense, Bregman had plenty of success in the minor leagues after going in the first round in 2015 draft. Bregman was the perfect mix of talent and potential and he wasn’t playing his natural position in Houston with Carlos Correa at short.
But at every turn the Astros, from what leaked to the public, rebuffed every attempt to snag Bregman.
Now the Astros are reaping the benefits of Bregman in the playoffs. He crushed two home runs off the Red Sox's ace Chris Sale in the American League Division Series. And now he generated the Astros’ only run against Clayton Kershaw with a 4th inning home run.

Bregman also started two double-plays on Tuesday night and was able to work a 3-2 count against Kenley Jansen.
Bregman was already No. 6 on a 101-win Astros team in his second season. Now we’re may be seeing Bregman’s next level in the playoffs. Bregman is showing off his many skills and it’s time for his ascension to the plateau with the like of Altuve, Correa, and Springer.
