The Houston Astros had an all-time great walk off win on Saturday. Jose Altuve, the Astros’ physical embodiment of hot plasma, watched as Carlos Correa did what he has always done as an Astro — make getting extra-base hits look easy.
Correa’s easy stroke to right center field sent Altuve racing to the second and on to third, while Aaron Judge fielded the ball and casually threw it into second.
Correa beat the throw into second and Altuve was sent home by the mad-genius (at least for that moment) Gary Pettis. Altuve didn’t beat the throw to the plate. As a matter of fact, if Gary Sanchez holds onto the ball, Altuve is probably easily out.
But the Astros made the Yankees make a play and the two young guns Judge and Sanchez couldn’t.
The Astros took a win and gave Justin Verlander the victory after a complete-game, one-run effort.
