Preview

The Houston Astros have an elimination of 24 for the 2016 Wild Card. The Astros have 26 games to figure out everything and make the playoffs. At the same time, hope that the Red Sox, Orioles, Yankees, and Royals don’t go on a hot streak.

At the moment, the Astros must solve AL Central-leading Cleveland Indians. The Astro won’t miss the Indians top two pitchers, Corey Kluber and Carlos Carrasco, but they start on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Mike Clevinger starts on Monday for the Indians. Clevinger, a 2011 4th round pick out of Seminole State College of Florida, appears in his 12th game in his rookie season. It is his first start since Aug. 13 and his sixth start overall.

Clevenger is 1-1 with 6.29 ERA in his previous five starts.

Mike Fiers goes for the Astros today. He is 2-2 with 3.97 ERA in six starts during August. He has allowed just five earned runs over his last 18 1/3 innings.

Fiers makes his first start in Cleveland and he is 1-0 with 1.29 ERA in one career start.
