Astros manager A.J. Hinch that Bregman’s injury would require at least 15 days if not more for the Astros’ third baseman to get back to the field. The problem for Houston is that the team only has 15 regular season games left.
Bregman would have likely put on the 15-day disabled list if not for the fact the Astros already have access to their entire 40-man roster. The team called up third baseman Colin Moran to fill Bregman’s spot in the field.
Bregman, 22, is batting .260 (51x196) with 31 runs scored, 13 doubles, eight home runs, 32 RBIs, 15 walks, .311 OBP, and a .480 SLG.
Jose Altuve returned to the lineup on Friday after exiting the same game as Bregman with a separate injury.
