The Houston Astros are without two of their top weapons in the infield with Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman sidelined without no timetable for their return. The Astros have made a move that may shed light on their possible return by calling up third baseman Colin Moran on Friday:

Houston could have called up Moran at any time after Sept. 1 with Moran on the 40-man roster but mostly likely felt he wouldn’t get playing time with Alex Bregman, Yulieski Gurriel and Marwin Gonzalez playing ahead of him. But now it appears the Astros won't have Bregman for an unspecific amount of time with him leaving Wednesday’s game grabbing his hamstring.

Moran, 23, batted .259 (119x459) with 18 doubles, 10 home runs, and 68 RBIs in 117 games with Triple-A Fresno. He joined the Astros for six games in May, batting .105 (2x19) with two RBIs.

Moran last played on Sept. 5 with Fresno.
