Kemp Goes Deep in GM-1 6-3 Win
We've grow accustomed to some fairly dominant outings from the Brady Rodgers. It's now to the point that we expect it and most have now expected for him to have gotten the call to the manager's office to receive that life changing and end-goal news of getting promoted to the majors. However, despite all of the movement up and down with the trades and paternity leave, Rodgers hasn't gotten that news. Did it play a part in him giving up nine hits? Maybe? Doubt it with him still not giving up walks.

Fresno Falls 9-4 in GM 2
Pretty much the opposite game. Brian Holmes made his Triple-A debut with a start and made it out of the first inning after allowing three runs. That was all she wrote. Brendan McCurry came in and didn't do much better with four runs allowed but at least made it two innings. The rest of the game was similar in that Tony D basically puzzled his way to the finish line with relievers, some more successful than others. Aaron West was the second pitcher to make his debut in this game and had a similar performance as Holmes.

Smith Struggles in 7-1 Hooks Loss
Kent Emanuel started the game and pitched well. But, he gave way to Kyle Smith who has had faced some steady struggles in his return to the mound after missing last season with TJ Surgery. In 2014, he had 25 walks in 95 innings for CC. He now has 25 walks again for CC this year but in 64 innings. He also struck out about one per inning in 2014 and he's no where close to that this year.
But, the reality is that those kind of struggles are fairly expected early in the return. A year off the mound is a difficult hill to climb.

Lancaster Wins 5-3
Yulieski Gurriel continued his trek through the minors with another game at 3B for the JetHawks. He failed to get a hit but did drive in a run.
Ralph Garza made his Lancaster debut with a dominant showing. He pitched three innings out of the pen and allowed just two base runners.
....YAWN....What's the big deal?
Oh....just seven strikeouts. That's how you grab attention.

Tucker's Bat Leads QC to 4-3 Win (13 innings)
Free baseball and Kyle Tucker made it worth it. The knock on him so far this season is the lack of power. Not enough home runs for the lanky and projectable outfielder. Sure, he wasn't hitting more than his fair share of doubles, but home run power develops around 21 to 23. So, in Kyle Tucker fashion, he hit two doubles.
Then he went ahead and said, fine I can give you what you want. He shot one over the fence. That's now three home runs in his last eight games. There's a little pop for you.
QC has gotten a lot of reinforcements lately. Stephen Wrenn. Then Randy Cesar. Then Ryne Birk. Framber Valdez. Now, Jake Rogers has been promoted as well. Three of them are 2016 draftees.

TC Falls in 11th Inning 3-2
More Free Baseball! Although, not a lot of offensive action here. MiguelAngel Sierra is still working to get his first hit for TC. Ronnie Dawson is still struggling to find the Mendoza Line.
That said, Sebastian Kessay found the strike zone often as he picked up 9 strikeouts in five innings. Getting things done. A game score of 68 in just five innings is difficult. Game Score really helps you out with points when you start getting past the fifth.

Greeneville Holds Off Late Surge to Win 4-2
Despite being up 4-0 in the top of the ninth, things got a little interesting as Greeneville allowed two runs. Abraham Toro-Hernandez had a big night but going 3-4 with a double. So, it's good to see a young and relatively unknown high draftee have a good night. Ben Smith hung a very strange stat line. But, if you're familiar with his track record, even in college, it fits. He struck out five in 4 1/3 innings. Not bad. Yet, he walked six as well. That's not good and also odd in that he allowed no runs. He just gave free passes and just two hits. He has good stuff, but he struggles to control it.
