Pitching Matchup

RHP Mike Fiers (7-4, 4.42 ERA, 4.62 FIP) vs. LHP J. A. Happ (14-3, 3.16 ERA, 3.94 FIP)

Having one of the best years of his career, former Astros pitcher J.A. Happ takes the mound for the Blue Jays tonight and will try to keep the Astros offense quiet. After exploding for 13 runs against the Angels on July 24th, Houston’s offense has averaged only 2.1 runs per 9 innings.

However, Astros pitchers have been able to keep each game of the series close so far. The Blue Jays have scored all of their runs this series via solo home runs. Mike Fiers will try to keep the Blue Jays bats quiet while building on a strong start in Detroit over the weekend where he only allowed 1 unearned run over 6.1 innings.

As these 2nd place teams wrap up this 4-game series, they’ll keep an eye on the game in Baltimore where the teams they are chasing (Rangers and Orioles) face off for the final game of their 3-game set.
