Rasmus, 30, had a cyst in his right ear removed 20 days ago. The team hopes the surgery will fix what ails Rasmus who struggled mightily before going on the DL.
Rasmus has batted .211 (69x327) with 12 home runs and 48 RBIs in 90 games in 2016. He was batting .178 (19x107) with three home runs in his last 30 games and .034 (2x58) in his last 15 games.
Rasmus is in the starting lineup on Tuesday against Athletics starter Kendall Graveman. Rasmus is 4-for-8 with two doubles and two RBIs — he’ll bat sixth and play left field.
Peacock, 28, appeared in five games since Aug. 19. He allowed three earned runs over seven innings on three hits and three walks.
