Preview

The Houston Astros are rolling coming into a three-game series with , the Oakland Athletics, one of the two teams in the basement of the AL West. The A’s haven’t had a winning month of baseball since April. The A’s are 5-5 in their last 10 games and come into the game with a series win over the Cardinals this past weekend.

Joe Musgrove is tasked with cooling the A’s in game one. Musgrove makes his sixth start for the Astros. Musgrove started by allowing just three earned runs over 18 1/3 innings. He has allowed 13 runs over his last 9 1/3 innings over his last two starts -- both on the road. Hopefully, some home cooking could calm Musgrove.

Sean Manaea counters Musgrove. Manaea is 2-3 with a 4.40 ERA in five August starts. Menaea is 0-0 with a 3.00 ERA in two starts (12 IP) against the Astros this season.

Current Astros are batting .222 (6x27) against Manaea with a .227 BABIP, 4.40 FIP, 18.8 K%, and a 6.3 BB%. Evan Gattis 3-for-6 with a home run in six at-bats against Manaea and Jose Altuve is 0-for-4 with zero walks and zero strikeouts.
