Outfield defense shines in loss for Fresno, Dean Deetz was dealing in a dominant defeat of Double-A San Antonio (don't judge me), Kyle Tucker continues to perform well in Lancaster, and other happenings around the Minor League system.

Andrew Aplin (pictured) and Jon Kemmer each made spectacular defensive plays in the outfield in a losing effort for Fresno.

Want the reader's digest version?

The outfield defense shone in a loss for Fresno, Dean Deetz was dealing in a dominant defeat of Double-A San Antonio (don't judge me), Kyle Tucker continued to perform well in Lancaster, Dexture McCall and Kristian Trompiz were the only players who showed up for Quad Cities, Tri-City banged out twelve hits in a loss, and Forrest Whitley continued to impress in Greeneville despite being ten years younger than the first car I ever drove.

Want more depth than that?

Of course you do.  That's why you're at the Crawfish Boxes.

AAA Fresno Grizzlies: LOST 8-6 to the Sacramento River Cats (SFG)

Keegan Yuhl made his fourth start at Triple-A Fresno and got shelled...again.  Hopefully the transition begins to go more smoothly for Yuhl, who posted a 3.04 ERA in 19 games at Double-A Corpus this year before getting promoted to Triple-A.  He's now given up 22 runs in 20.1 innings for Fresno, and his four starts have each looked pretty atrocious on paper - four earned runs on August 9th, seven earned runs on August 16th, five earned runs on August 22nd, and now six earned runs today.  One must believe that his true expectations lie somewhere between his excellent Double-A performance and his current Triple-A flop, and hope that the results begin to improve imminently.

Otherwise in this game, it wasn't terribly pretty.  Max Stassi had a very good game, hitting a three-run home run and adding an RBI single, and Danny "SupermAAAAn" Worth continued doing Danny Worth things.  Alejandro Garcia, making his ninth appearance in Triple-A, continued his torrid start at the level with two singles, a walk, two runs scored and an RBI.  The rest of the lineup went 3-23 on the night, and the bullpen, after Aaron West was tagged with a blown save in direct relief of Yuhl to end the sixth inning, pitched three scoreless innings.  The only other highlights that this writer is aware of from this game are contained in the videos below.  Note that it's not immediately apparent to this writer whether Andrew Aplin (who did end up leaving the game) is okay.

AA Corpus Christi: WON 6-0 over the San Antonio Missions (SDP)

#SorryNotSorry for the alliteration in the description for this piece, but Dean Deetz really was masterful in his (successful) efforts to secure the 80th win of the season for the Hooks.  J.D. Davis continued his recent torrid hot streak, going to 2-3 with an RBI double and a home run as well as a walk, Chase McDonald added a solo shot of his own as part of a 2-4 night, and Ryan Deemes and Kevin Comer followed Deetz's six inning, six hit performance (nine k's, no walks, no runs allowed) with three innings of three hit ball with a walk and three strikeouts of their own between them.
