The question of when Cuban infielder Yulieski Gurriel would join the Astros lingered after his scheduled arrival, the home series against the Cardinals, came and went. But there is now an answer, Gurriel will join the Astros on Sunday against the Orioles.

Gurriel, 32, signed a five-year, $47.5 million contract last month with the Astros after making rounds in private workouts with the Dodgers and Mets among other teams.
Gurriel had 56 at-bats over his 15 games in the Astros minor league system. He batted .250 (14x56) with two home runs and 14 RBIs. Gurriel was noted called up after batting .118 (3x17) in five games with Double-A Corpus Christi. He was sent to Triple-A Fresno, he batting .222 (4x18) with a home run.
At the moment, it appears the Astros will use Gurriel as a designated hitter when he makes his major league debut. The Astros sent down Tyler White to make room for Gurriel on the 25-man roster.
To make room on the roster for Gurriel, Tyler White has been optioned to Triple A.
