The Grizzlies were done in by Iowa’s five-run fourth in a game full of offensive fireworks. Jon Kemmer played admirably, hitting a two-run shot in the first as well as a two-RBI triple in the fifth, but unfortunately that, coupled with a Jon Singleton solo shot, was not enough. Although the pitching wasn't very impressive as a whole, Brendan McCurry did strike out three in 1.1 innings of relief.

Francis Martes pitched well enough, going six innings while allowing two runs and striking out seven, but the other pitchers all had a hand in giving up the vital runs which cost them the game. The offense wasn't much better, but they did manage to score four when the RBIs were two singles and a force out. Antonio Nunez, playing in just his twelfth game in Corpus and batting ninth, collected two hits, including a two-RBI single. Unfortunately, they weren't enough, as Jose Briceno’s homer in the top of the tenth was the difference.

This was definitely a Lancaster game. The Giants scored both of their runs on back-to-back first-inning solo shots, and then the Jethawks went to work. They put up a five-spot in the fourth, then really went to work in the eighth. After loading the bases with one out, they went single, single, walk, walk, grand slam for a total of eight runs. Dykxhoorn did well enough for having allowed two home runs, as he settled down and allowed just two other hits through 6.2 innings.

The first game was a heartbreaker for QC, as they came back in the sixth with three runs only to lose on a walk-off in the bottom of the seventh. Pat Porter stood out as he hit a two-RBI triple as well as a single and also walked. Framber Valdez pitched the entire game and was rather uneven, striking out six but walking three and also giving up four runs (three earned).
In the second game, the Bandits performed much better, pushing across three runs in the first and four in the fourth, the latter inning helped by two two-run home runs. Stephen Wrenn was definitely the MVP, doubling twice and homering. Spencer Johnson hit well too with a double and homer. Hector Perez struck out nine in just 5.1 innings to help Quad Cities secure the victory.
