Astros activate Luke Gregerson; Ken Giles to paternity list

Add one Astros one-time closer, remove one Astros closer.

The Astros' revolving door called the 25-man continues to turn as the Astros activating relief pitcher Luke Gregerson and place relief pitcher Ken Giles on the paternity list.

Gregerson, 32, was the Astros' 2015 and the 2016 opening day closer. But Gregerson lost the job in June after a stretch of four blown saves in eight chances. But Gregerson has been effective in his last 30 games, he is 3-0 with a 2.79 ERA with seven saves in his last 29 innings.

Giles and his wife are expecting the family's first child -- Giles will have as many as three days away from the team on the paternity list.

Giles, 25, is the Astros current closer. He is currently 1-0 with 0.59 ERA over his last 15 games with 30 strikeouts over 15 1/3 innings.
