The Astros' top prospect played in his first major league game on Monday. Sure, the boxscore will say that Alex Bregman went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. But that would be ignoring the fact that Bregman still had some exciting plays in the field and some loud outs.
Bregman didn't take long to make the SportsCenter Top 10 plays. He robbed Mark Teixeria of hit after he snared a grounder on the chalk line in the second inning.
The legend of Alex Bregman almost grew tenfold in the sixth inning. Bregman was the plate with the bases loaded and two outs. Bregman put a charge into a Michael Pineda pitch the other way to right field. For a moment, it appeared Aaron Hicks was about to turn around to watch the ball fly into the stands. But Hicks settled down under the ball with ease for the out.
The best part of the play was the shot of Bregman's family reacting to the near grand slam.
