Forrest Whitley's debut is the biggest story but Elisier Hernandez had a big night.

Tyler White Plays SS in 4-3 Win

Yep, in a move that make Brett Wallace very jealous, Tyler White played SS for the Fresno Grizzlies. Tony DeFrancesco may not care as much about defense at SS than most since he has now played Wallace and White in one of the most important defensive positions on the field when they are most likely suited for 1B. Makes for good minor league baseball! They have Jack Mayfield to play SS and they just added Chan Jong Moon, so don't expect it to happen again.

Alex Bregman was in LF again!

Pair of Homers Lead Hooks to 4-3 Win

The offense in Corpus has struggled with the loss of Teoscar and Bregman. Understandable right? Well at times different guys have stepped up to attempt to fill the void. Derek Fisher and J.D. Davis were the most likely and Fisher did his part last night with two hits. They have reinforcements in Garrett Stubbs who has hit well since his recent promotion. Nick Tanielu has consistently hit in his career but hasn't hit for power or drawn walks. The power is starting to show through this year. He hit is fifth home run for Corpus in this game, which is his ninth on the year where he hit a total of 6 last season. He's still not drawing walks which has been an issue with his transition to Double-A.

Ramon Laureano was promoted from Lancaster prior to this game and made his Double-A debut.

Sewald Falls Short of Cycle in 9-8 Loss

Johnny Sewald picked up three hits in five at-bats and only lacked the home run for the cycle. He got the triple which is the hardest to do, so he was decently close. Alex Winkleman missed all of June due to an injury and has pitched a few times this month, but he had a nine day lay off before this game and he showed the rust. It took 63 pitches to go through 2 2/3 innings and only 25 of those went for strikes. Rough day.

Osvaldo Duarte was promoted from QC to replace Ramon Laureano and made his High-A debut.

Hernandez has Career Night in 3-2 Loss

It was Elisier Hernandez's turn to go a little deeper into the game and he didn't disappoint. He tossed 98 pitches and 70 went for strikes. He was in the zone most of the night and was able to get a lot of whiffs with his fastball. He fanned 14 hitters on the night and issued just one free pass. He gave up three hits in his 6 1/3 innings and the one that did the damage was a two-run shot. But, he bounced back from the homer and got the next out in just three pitches. Of the 24 batters that he faced, 18 were in 1-2 or 0-2 counts. That's impressive to get ahead of the count that often for a young pitcher.

Sierra Homers Again in 2-1 Win

That's nine home runs on the season for Miguel Angel Sierra. The downside? That's two more home runs than walks. Crazy that an 18 year old short-stop who is supposed to be light hitting is second in the league in home runs and third in OPS.

23rd Round  draftee Tyler Britton now has 27 strikeouts and two walks in 17 1/3 innings. Rookie League seems a bit easy for him.
