Happy J2 Signing Day!
Bregman, Hernandez Lead Fresno to 4-1 Victory...Again.
I swear I wrote something along those lines yesterday. No, this wasn't a 23 run performance. But, again the new guys ball out. Hernandez hit his second home run in as many games as Grizzly. Bregman hit his first but because it was his only hit, his average dropped to .693. Release this scrub of a prospect! Hernandez's homer wasn't against some scrub either. Nate Smith was the 2015 PotY for Double-A Arkansas last year and was a Texas League All-Star. He's 24 in Triple-A after being drafted in 2013 and received a ST invite.

Hooks Struggle Again in 11-1 Loss
Coincidence? Two games for Fresno with Bregman and Hernandez and they go off. Two games for CC without that due and they fall flat on their face. Even the pitching was bad.
I don't want to talk about it.

Thornton Best Start of Year Leads Lancaster to 5-1 Win
Honestly, this was his best start of the year. His Game Score was a 78. He picked up nine strikeouts to bring his SO/9 to 9 for the season. He didn't walk anyone. Gave up just five hits in seven innings. Plus, he had eight ground outs with one flyout. He threw just 89 pitches so he had good efficient innings as well since he threw plenty of strikes (62). I'm curious if they've toned down his leg kick which is what I think made his performance so scattered.

Straw Leads QC in 5-3 Win
Myles Straw has the tools to do a lot of damage if given the opportunity. He doesn't have power but he has speed. Lots of speed. 80-grade speed. The opportunity he needs is to get on-base. So far that hasn't been a problem. His OBP is over .400 and he helped it out some with a 5-5 night.
PA 1: Single. Stolen Base
PA 2: Single. Force out at second.
PA 3: Single. Safe at third on errand pick off attempt.
PA 4: Double.
PA 5: Out at second stretching attempting to leg out a double.
Also of note. Matt Bower dominated. Lancaster was really rough on him.
Former Astros minor league centerfielder Drew Muren pitched against QC. He was the long and lanky 6'" guy in center. Well, after being released in 2014 he's remade himself into a pitcher and is doing quite well in Low-A with a very nice k-rate.

Kessay Dominant in 5-3 TC Win
Sebastian Kessay has been around for awhile. He's 23 and in Short-Season A-Ball. He was drafted in 2013 out of a JuCo. The reason is simple. He has good stuff and can strike guys out. The problem is walks. He had a short stint with QC earlier in the season and struck out 13 in 11 innings. But....he also walked 13. Now, last night that ugly BB didn't show it's ugly head. That resulted in a nice and pretty 70 Game Score.
Oh, and Stephen Wrenn did his usual thing with a 2-hit game.

Sierra Backs Up His Signing Bonus in 5-3 Greeneville Win
How many 18 year olds have a nice cool million bucks? How many are 18 and playing in Rookie ball? And how many of those have three home runs while playing short stop? In fact there are two. The other is Adrian Rondon who is about six months younger and won't turn 18 til next week. He signed in the same J2 class but for more money. They have very similar stats in this young season.
