Triple A: Fresno(48-44) beats New Orleans Zephyrs (45-47), 2-0
This was a pitcher's duel and Brad Peacock out-maneuvered Jeremy Guthrie. Peacock has been really good over his last 2 starts (21 strikeouts). Maybe someone will allow him to be a throw-in on a trade and free up another 40-man spot. James Hoyt came on and did his thing. Maybe Peacock can be packaged with a bullpen arm to allow Hoyt to get a shot to show his stuff in the bigs.
Alex Bregman and Tyler White homered. Tyler White has got his groove back. In 13 games in July, "The Great White" has an OPS of 1.236. Teoscar Hernandez had another hit to keep his average up at .365. I am still shocked and really excited about Teoscar's resurgence.
Oh and let's have some fun with numbers with this silly season that Alex Bregman is having. An arbitrarily good BB/K ratio is anything that is above .5. Meaning that if a guy strikes out at a 20% clip, he's walking at a 10% clip or higher. If a person is striking out at 15% he's walking at 7.5% or higher. You get the picture. Alex Bregman's HR/K ratio is 0.55. Yes, you read that right, HOMERUN PER STRIKEOUT is 0.5. His actual BB/K is 1.25. I've never followed a prospect like this kid. Oh, and another national baseball dude who believes in lower case only said this:
hearing no exact target date, and not next series at oakland now, by alex bregman willl be up soon. guy can really rake.

Double A: Hooks(58-35) fall to Midland(49-44), 6-3
This team really misses Alex and Teoscar. They've been scuffling a little in the 2nd half. Chase McDonald hit a homer. That's his 13th of the year. Keegan Yuhl got beat up a little. Just a rough one for the Hooks.

Class A Advanced: Lancaster (51-43) out-slugged by Rancho Cucamonga (55-39), 10-7
Bobby Boyd and Trent Woodward homered. Ramon Laureano doubled twice and stole his 33rd (WHAT?!) bag. I had no idea until this very moment that Laureano was a bag swiper. He's only been thrown out 9 times on the season. This guy will be watched like a hawk when he gets to Double A to see if this was just a Lancaster mirage. Ramon only turned 21 a few days ago.

Class A Short Season: Tri-City(16-14) holds off Batavia(6-24), 9-8
Ronnie Dawson went yard twice! A game like this may get the ball rolling for the recently drafted young man. Stephen Wrenn continued his hot hitting. Randy Cesar is having a nice time at Tri-City slashing .371/.429/.486.
Batavia rallied to score 3 in the 9th drawing it within 1-run, but Juan Santos came and got the 1-out save.

Carlos Machado is hitting .338 on the year. The lanky 18 year old Dominican has little to no pop and rarely walks, but apparently he can square up the baseball pretty good. His career average is .342 in 69 games.
