Fresno Falls 9-5 to Cosart
Nothing like losing to an old teammate. Jarred Cosart is back in the minors after a pretty poor performance with the Marlins earlier this season and he's doing pretty much what he's always done in the minors. His ERA isn't great, but it's no bad either, especially for the PCL. But a really high walk rate and low strikeout rate is right up his ally. He got the win. But, Tyler White did get a home run off of him.

Hooks Fall 6-1
Nolan Fontana Jacky Mayfield swopped places. Mayfield has been hitting a lot of bombs in Corpus recently while Fontana has struggled to do much of anything this season. His walk-rate has plummeted to less than 9%. Yeah, the guy who who used to have a walk-rate north of 20% is way down below 9%. What's the deal? Well his walk-rate wasn't going to be quite that high in the majors and his poor batting average was going to get worse in the majors so he had to work on driving the ball more. It's not really working out. This will get him in an environment that he's had success before with, so maybe he can get to hitting and drawing walks.

Laureano Has Special Night in 13-8 Win
How do you celebrate your birthday? Get with some friends and family? Have dinner? If you're a partier, maybe throw a party or go out on the town? Ramon Laureano might have had a beer after the game, but his performance spoke loud and clear that it was his day. He started the game off with a home run against major-leaguer Matt Cain. Proceeded to hit a pair of doubles off of Cain. And then, went ahead and hit another homer off of reliever Austin Fleet. Not a bad night at all.

QC Wins Pitcher's Duel 2-1 Backed by Perez and Abreu
How's that for a tandem? A couple of young hard-throwing pitchers that both can reach at least mid-90's (Albert Abreu can go higher). But, Franklin Perez has a better off-speed arsenal. Both strike out well over a hitter per inning. Perez limits walks pretty well. Abreu will walk several but can strikeout more. Just a very talented pair of pitchers that make the MWL hope to not see. Scouts drool over this tandem.

Valley Cats Put on Hitting Clinic in 10-2 Win
They amassed 14 hits and believe it or not, Stephen Wrenn only had one of those. But, of course that one for Wrenn was a double. Carmen Benedetti and Randy Cesar picked up half of them themselves. Lefty Benedetti is crushing the ball to the tune of a .409 average but hasn't hit but one home run. So, he'll be another first base type that can hit but they'll have to tinker with the swing to get more power.

Payano Leads Greeneville in 3-1 Win in GM 1
Crazy to think that a kid who was signed in 2012 out of the Dominican can just now be in Greeneville and at the age of 20, be fairly age appropriate. That's the nature of the IFA. But, he Luis Payano hit his third home run of the season with a runner on to break the 1-1 tie and give them that 3-1 lead.
