Triple-A: Fresno (47-42) beats up New Orleans (43-46), 6-2

There are some hungry hitters on this Fresno team. Tony Kemp reached base 4 times and is once again sporting a very robust OBP up around .420. Preston Tucker has his numbers up to a repectable level. Tyler White is crushing again. He homered (#7) and walked is sporting a .977 OPS. He's been white hot in July with a 1.241 OPS. Teoscar Hernandez had a hit and a walk and has a 1.127 OPS in 42 ABs. Jon Singleton had a double and a homer and has a respectable .870 OPS in July.

Oh, and some guy named Alex Bregman had a hit also in his farewell tour with Fresno.

Double-A: Corpus Christi(53-32) out-scored by Frisco(45-44), 10-1

Frances Martes had to take the loss, but he pitched well in the loss. He threw 55 strikes in 91 pitches. He was able to get 5 ground outs to 2 air out. His ERA has crept down to 3.91, and it's under 3 over his last 10 games. He's still struggling a little with his control, but the tools are there to be a great pitcher.

The Hooks piled up 9 hits, but did not score. JD Davis homered and Nick Tanielu had 3 hits.

The Hooks debuted some pretty awesome throwback uniforms they are going to wear on July 28. Check them out.

Class A Advanced: Lancaster (49-42) take both games of of double header vs San Jose (48-43)

Game 1

Trent Thornton threw a complete games shutout in 7 innings. He threw 54 strikes in 76 pitches. Thornton is a 2015 5th rounder out of North Carolina. Thornton has a 3.33 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP on the road this year. He's been bad in Lancaster, which is understandable. He's struck out 80 in 83.2 innings overall on the year. This is not a bad showing for the Cal League.

Ramon Laureano continues his interesting, likely "Lancaster-fueled" year with a homer in each game.

Lancaster wins 3-0.

Hector Perez has crept onto my radar. He's a 20 year old righty that has struck out 30 over 24.2 IP. He seems to struggle some with walks, but he has some swing and miss stuff it appears. I don't know anything outside of his numbers, but that's not bad.

Ryne Birk and Stephen Wrenn got a knock. Ronnie Dawson hit a dinger.

Rookie: Greeneville Astros were Rained Out

Dominican Summer League: Blue Team loses to DSL Royals, 7-2

The Blue Team's record falls to 25-10 on the season. The DSL is a bit of a crap shoot, but one guy that catches my eye is Angel Tejeda. His BABIP is super high at .435, but his 12.4 BB rate and 14.6 K rate is pretty solid for a 19 year old. He's listed at 6-0, 168 pounds. He's a lefty swinger and thrower.

Dominican Summer League: Orange Team splits a double header with the DSL Phillies2

Game 1 went 14 innings and the Orange team lost 8-7. They won game 2 with a score of 4-2. Game 1 started at 9:55 AM. Game 2 started at 2:00 PM. What a long day for those folks working and playing in these games. DSL Astros Orange team's record stands at 17-18.
