Grizzlies jump on Rainiers early, win 5-3

The Astros' Triple-A affiliate Fresno Grizzlies  didn't wait long to get an early lead on the Mariners' Triple-A team Tacoma Rainiers. Tony Kemp, Colin Moran, and Preston Tucker collected extra-base hits in a three-run first inning.

The Rainiers picked up two runs off starter Cesar Valdez with a string of singles.The Grizz got back one run in the bottom of the third inning.  Matt Duffy led off with a double and scored on a Jon Kemmer single. Valdez hurt himself with a pickoff attempt that allowed Dario Pizzano to move to third -- Tyler Smith would single him in to make the score 4-3 Grizzlies.

Tyler Heineman played add-on in the eighth inning with his third home run in Triple-A. Brendan McCurry and James Hoyt finished off the game with three clean innings. Hoyt picked up his 19th save of the season by striking out the side.

Corpus Christi Hooks -- All-Star Break

The Hooks get back to action on Thursday against the Springfield Cardinals. Cy Sneed (3-1, 3.38 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) squares off against J.C. Sulbaran (0-1, 4.67 ERA, 1.44 WHIP).

JetHawks clip Mavericks, 6-2

The Lancaster JetHawks couldn't figure out High Desert Mavericks pitcher Tyler Davis through the first three innings but made the most of the second and third time through the lineup against him. Bryan Muniz doubled and Jason Martin homered to tie the game at 2-2 in the fourth inning.

The JetHawks blew the game open in the sixth inning. Jamie Ritchie hit a bases-loaded double, scoring two. Keach Ballard followed with a double against new pitcher Scott Williams. Lancaster posted three runs on five hits in the sixth inning. Keach Ballard picked up an RBI single in the eight to add the sixth run of the game for Lancaster.

Brock Dykxhoorn pitched eight innings for the JetHawks, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out four.

River Bandits grab 4-2 win over Cedar Rapids

A Connor Goedert double to set up to runners in scoring position in the second inning, Arturo Michelena singled home a run in the second inning for Quad Cities. Kyle Tucker, Dexture McCall, and Anthony Hermelyn each hit a single that combined for one run in the third inning.

Kristian Trompiz doubled home a run in the sixth inning and was thrown at third attempting to stretch his hit into a double. Sean Miller led off the seventh with a double and scored on a Luis Arraez single. Jose Hernandez pitched seven innings and allowed just earned run on nine hits. Adam Whitt picked up his fifth save.

Tri-City Falls to Williamsport, 7-3

Williamsport jumped out to a 6-0 lead against Tri-City. Randy Cesar and Jake Rogers had the ValleyCats' only hits int he game.

MacDonald hits for cycle in Astros 14-3 win

Connor MacDonald picked up the cycle the hard way, completing the feat with a triple in the seventh inning. MacDonald was 4-for-4 with four runs scored and an RBI. Frankeny Fernandez was 2-for-6 with a triple and a home run.
