The process of signing the Houston Astros 2016 MLB Draft class continues. Astros Director of Amateur Scouting Mike Elia announced five more signings on Monday. The terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
The five officially signings include infielder Abraham Toro-Hernandez (fifth round), right-handed pitcher Chad Donato (11th), infielder Ryne Birk (13th), right-handed pitcher Kevin Hill (25th), and right-handed pitcher Ian Hardman (36th).
The signings include two local signings, Chad Donato played at Cypress Woods High School before heading to West Virginia and Ryne Birke attended Seven Lakes High Schol before attending Texas A&M.
Toro, from Seminole State, batted .439 (90x205) with 14 doubles, five triples, 20 home runs, 86 RBIs, 94 runs scored, and eight stolen bases.
Donato, West Virgina pitcher, was 3-4 with a 3.27 ERA in 15 starts for the Mountaineers with 111 strikeouts and 20 walks.
Birk, a second baseman from Texas A&M, batted .310 (79x255) with 52 runs scored, 14 double, four triples, seven home runs, and 45 RBIs with the Aggies.
Hill, a pitcher from South Alabama, was 8-2 with a 2.86 ERA in 16 starts with the Jaguars with 126 strikeouts and 31 walks.
