Another year, another draft in the books for the Houston Astros. The Astros selected 40 players in total without having any competitive balance picks in the 2016 Draft. Houston ended up taking a total of 13 right-handed pitchers, five left-handed pitchers, four catchers, 12 infielders and 6 outfielders. Of the 40 total selections, 35 came out of the collegiate ranks, and five from high school.
The Astros selected 29 players out of college, five Division II players, and one Division III player. The Division I college players included 14 seniors and 15 juniors. Houston selected five players out of high school.
