Astros Prospect Report: June 10th, 2016

Some interesting performances but only two wins...

Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

I'm going to upfront with you on this. This is going to be short and sweet. Most are paying attention to the draft, myself included. So, time of the essence.

Reed Gets 8th Homer in 6-3 Loss

With Jeff Luhnow recently discussing the prospect of A.J. Reed being very close to the ML ready is pretty intriguing. At first glance he's posting his worst OPS and his batting average is way down. In fact, last night he batted sixth in the lineup because he's awfully close to the Mendoza Line in his last 10 games. That said, his walk-rate is slightly over his career line and his strikeout rate is a little over his career line. But, the ISO is similar to his Double-A line and his BABIP is very low. So, his numbers are mostly suppressed compared to what he's really doing.

Tanielu Homers in 7-6 Loss

I will eventually stop banging the Nick Taniuelu drum one day. But, this ain't it. His biggest question mark has always been power. He hit just six in Quad Cities last season. But, he hit four in the wind-aided band box of Lancaster in 137 at-bats. Now, following the promotion to Double-A, he has hit three in just 71 at-bats. His ISO is down compared to Lancaster but that's due to less doubles and triples. The .169 ISO is still better than his .120's that he's previously recorded.

Lancaster Falls 4-1

So, this is pretty cool.

He's really excited about it too. You should go read Jason's twitter timeline about how he thinks it'll fix baseball's time problem and that it's more rare than no-hitters.

Quad Cities Falls 3-1

Anthony Boyer has been high Kristan Trompiz for awhile, and you can't blame him. He's a very athletic player with nice tools. But, he struggled in QC last season and was pushed to Lancaster anyway. Well, it was quite awful out there and was demoted back to QC. But, in his seven games, he's been a nice little run. He's hitting over .300 in that but it's pretty empty. Just two walks to eight strikeouts and one double. But, he's driving the ball which is something we didn't see in Lancaster.
