Gomez has become a lightning rod since joining the Astros at the trade deadline during the 2015 season. Gomez hasn't shown the expected offensive power that he touted in Milwaukee and he struggled in the field just before being put on the DL.
Gomez was placed on the disabled list with what was called a rib cage injury, the same type of injury that plagued Gomez at the end of the 2015 season. But just as much it appeared the rehab assignment was an attempt to get Gomez's confidence back.
He was batting .182 (22x121) with eight doubles, five RBIs, 46 strikeouts and seven walks. Gomez batted .250 (5x20) with one home run.
Gomez had a few highlights with Corpus Christi.
On the other half of the roster move, Moran was sent down. Moran struggled at the plate in his short time with the major league club. He batted .105 (2x19) with two RBIs.
